Default Sponsorship and Source of Income

Hi,

1. I will start HRDC Self Employment Program soon. HRDC will pay around
$1,000 a monthly for 12 months. If my business could earn $23,000+, would I
be able to sponsor my Dad while I'm on this program?

2. Is this income acceptable to invite my parents as a visitor visa? If so,
the immigration officer requires T4 for proof of income. I won't have T4
since this is my own business. Would Notice of Assessment of income tax
return be acceptable and sufficient?

Thanks,
David

To sponsor someone under the family class you will have to be either a
Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

I do not believe the $1000 per month is eligible as it is a grant and
is not considered benefits under the EI Act. Check your contract with
HRDC to see how they term the $1000 per month. I base my advice on a
similar case we had where CIC disallowed the HRDC grant.
