Default sponsorship for person who was illegal in USA

I want to sponsor my mother. She is along and she doesn't have any relative all over
the word. But problem is that for any reasons she was illegal in USA for 1 year. Can
I sponsor her or it will be denied in any case?

Hi:

The fact that your mother was illegal in the USA for one year will not automatically
render her inadmissible to Canada. Although it will be taken into consideration, it
is highly unlikely that her application for Family Class immigration will be denied
on this basis alone.

Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.
