Sponsorship of parents ... better wait for citizenship?

Hi!
Assuming that a PR is already eligible (and qualified) to sponsor parents, is there
any significant advantage for that person to wait until he/she becomes a Canadian
citizen before filing the application? How long does it normally take for a PR to
sponsor parents? How long for Canadian citizens? Are there any differences in
requirements/criteria, depending on whether the sponsor is a PR or a citizen?
Please advise. Thanks!
Greg

There is no difference at all. Processing time depends from many factors but not from
the fact that the sponsor is a Canadian citizen or PR.

On average, such sponsorships take 6-18 months depending on the need for an interview
and the location at which the case is concluded. The citizenship status of the
sponsor is not a factor in such, nor do the requirements vary on the basis of such.

Will debts (incurred and payable outside of Canada) be a factor in considering
eligibility for family sponsorship, or should the sponsor pay them all first before
submitting the application? Thanks for your advise.
