Default Software pilot project Work visa

Experts:

I came to canada about 1 year ago on software pilot project. I got the visa
for about 3 years. But I got laid off recently. Now I have a job offer from
another company in IT field. Please answer my questions;

1. Can I apply for the change in the terms and conditions on my current Visa
?

2. Currently within Canada it is taking about 2 months to get EA processed.
What If I apply in New York, How will it take ? Can I apply in person there
and get the visa changed on the same day.

3. What are the chances of getting rejected.

4. Can I start working, while my change request for work visa is in progress
?

5. Is it possible to get this change done in about a week time from anywhere
and anyhow. If yes please let me know.

Thanks

Shetty

1. you would have to, if you want to work for the new employer..

2. if you apply to a visa post outside you are no longer changing the terms and conditions of your stay, but are rather applying for a fresh wp, and the standard processing times of that visa post would apply...

3. obviously noone can answer this one... you wont know unless you give it a shot..

4. no, you have to wait till such is granted...

5. a very long shot (and probably *will not* work) but you could go to a local cic office, explain your situation to an officer, and ask that your wp t&c be changed on an expidited basis (take along a letter from the employer stating that they would suffer monetary loss if you are not able to begin working as soon as possible)... chances are you will be told to do it the same way everyone else does by applying via verghville... but if you get a sympathetic officer, s/he may be able to push through the application in a few days... i know of people who have had this done... but it was changes to their location of employment, not for a change of employer... and all these people were represented by corporate counsel, who petitioned on behalf of the employer, not the employee...
