I appllied using the simplified application process (skilled worker route) around october 20th. I know they have received my application as I got recorded delivery and it says they have on the post office website.
So i was wondering if i should email them as i have not heard a single thing back from them. Been waiting for just over 2 months.
So I hear, from this site, that the rumour is if you email them, they will put your application to the bottom of the pile.
Is this true? Should i email them now is all i wish to know? I know on this site it also says how there is a backlog for 2-3 months. But really. all they have to do is send out a quick confirmation that theyd received my application and it is being processed and id be happy!

i was also wondering...surely this process that takes a few years...they won't keep you dragging on for the two three years...then reject you at the end of it will they? if they don't want you, do they tell you this straight away?

PS as a side issue. why don't canada just get more immigration officers to go through all these apllications a bit quicker. charge each person some more fees if they need to pay more wages! i mean, it looks to be coming out at around £1000 once you take medicals and fees into account is kind of cheap if you ask me! I'd easily pay double to half the time of the process! And i'm not loaded or anything!

Nobody is touching yet Simplified applications when so many full applications with arranged employment are being submitted. There is no statistical data about AOR's for SAP cases yet, so far nobody reports receiving anything yet. Expect AOR within 3 months to a year or longer...

Nobody will touch your application to assess it until your turn comes in about 4 to 5 or so years. So, you won't know until then if "they want you" or not...

You obviously didn't read past posts on the topic yet - I strongly suggest you to do it before you ask more questions or come up with ideas.

Processing times have absolutely nothing to do with number of processing officers. It is simply supply (number of visas available per annum) and demand (number of applications) matter. All visa posts in past several years met their annual targets by October, latest mid of November each year.

Just to give you an idea:

- annual target (quota) in all economic classes (skilled workers, business and PNP) is about 140,000 visas

- statistically there are 2.2 people per application (principal applicant plus dependents)

- there is still well over 1 million full applications that were submitted prior to Sep 2006 pending now - with average refusal rate of 50% means 500,000+ cases to be approved among those already submitted before you filed your case.

- now do the math - 500,000 cases x 2.2 people = 1,100,000 visas => 7.86 years of visa quotas....

- and please stop hoping that annual targets will be increased in any predictable future.

so what happens if your initial assessment is positive, but the quota for the time being has been reached?
