Just go to any Canadian newspaper online and do the search for SARS.

BTW - it originated in China and was kept under wraps by Chinese authorities
for months, thus not giving the rest of the world any chance for advanced
warning and time for preparation.

Default SARS in Canada

Hello,

I learn from some web site that there is a lung disease called SARS in
Canada recently. I don't know how severe it is now. Can anyone supply me
with me some information on this disease? It seems this disease is
contageous. Thanks!

Nobody can predict anything at this time, so keep yourself updated daily by
reading Canadian papers, watching WHO (World Health Organization) website,
etc.

Maybe CIC should have a moratorium or suspension of immigration until the SARS
thing is taken care of.

I searched Google and learned the latest situation in Canada,
esp. Toronto. Thanks.

It's a shame of our government. This disease was first found in GuangDong
province and spreaded to Hong Kong quite fast.

Will there be any *special* test for SARS when I go through the Canada
Customs since I come from China?

BTW, I'm from Shanghai, about 2 hours flight from GuangDong.

Is there any official response from Canadian Government?

H.M. Canadian Government tells citizens to avoid travelling to the
region, but if they do travel, not to forget to wash their hands :-)

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/prote...03/2003_11.htm

There is a link to that page from the "What's new" section at the CIC site,
too:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/whatsnew/index.html

If any quarantine restrictions or inspections are imposed in the
future, they surely will be posted at the CIC site, too.

Go to www.torontostar.com, there are enough articles for you to read.

There is no test available which can be used to identify this disease.
Symptoms are: fever, dry coughing, difficult breathe. People who has
these symptoms should call for medical help immediately. People who has
closely contacted the infected people but hasn't developed any symptom,
should stay at home for at least 10 days, to contain this disease.
