Folks,
if someone could answer the following salary questions I'd be most
grateful:
- Are salaries negoiated with employer gross yearly?
- Are salaries payable monthly or weekly?
- What is deducted from your salary (meaning: what ends up being
transfered to your bank account)?
- If the employer doesn't pay social security and tax (from your
salary), how is it done?
- what's the tax rate?
Alternatively, please advise which web page to visit!

Usually bigger companies do not negotiate salaries. They have fixed salary schemes based on the position and level. When I got my last job I was asked how much I wanted and I was surprised to be offered a higher amount. Salaries are usually paid every second week, however I know people that get paid weekly. As far as the deductions are concerned, I will read-off from my pay slip:
-Federal Income Tax
-Quebec Income Tax
-QPP (Quebec Pension Plan) Employee Contribution
- EI Employee Premium
- Company Pension Contribution
I hope this helps

> Are salaries negoiated with employer gross yearly?
For professional positions, salaries are quoted as yearly, gross. For many non-professional positions, they are hourly, gross.
> Are salaries payable monthly or weekly?
Usually once every two weeks. Sometimes twice per month. Sometimes weekly.
> what's the tax rate?
