Default Returning to Canada to Apply Inland

In a couple of days my common law partner and I are going to Scotland for a week to meet her family. She has been living with me here in Canada on a working holiday visa for 1 year. Upon our return to Canada we will be submitting our application for sponsorship as well as for her extension to stay. Her work visa is valid until the end of next month and she will have a return ticket to Scotland on that date (even though she won't be using it since she'll be staying here throughout the process). MY question is, will she have trouble getting through customs on our way back into Canada in a week's time? She will have a month or so left on her visa and a return ticket. We are however planning on being honest and if asked for her reason for coming back, she will say that we are about to apply inland for common law sponsorship. Is she going to have problems getting back in if they hear this or am I just being paranoid. She legally has 1 month left and will be honest about her intentions so I can't see why they wouldn't let her back in. Is there any paperwork that we should bring with us to show them just in case there is a problem? I just want to make sure we've covered all our bases before we go.

Thanks in advance for any advise provided. Cheers.

Once she leaves Canada, her visitor status is no longer valid, although her work permit would be. She will be re-examined as a visitor when you return. Be honest tell Immigration what your intention is and request a 1 year visitor visa. You don't need any paperwork as such.
