Default Returning Before Arrival Of PR Card Questions

Hi All,

I have a friend who is doing his landing on June 5. He wants to go back on
June 10. Obviously, he would not have received his PR Card by then. Given
that situation, I have a few questions on how he can re-enter Canada if he
leaves without his PR Card.

1. I read in a related post that he has to apply for a travel document.
Where can he apply for it? Any Canadian embassy? Only certain Canadian
embassies? Or does he have to apply by mail to a CIC office in Canada?

2. Suppose he gives my mailing address for his PR Card and then when it
arrives, I courier it to him. Can he then use the PR Card to re-enter?

3. Are you required to show your PR Card when you exit? If yes, do you just
need to show it or do the authorities scan it to store information on it or
enter information in their database?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ranesh

1. Application for Travel Document has to be submitted to the Canadian visa
post outside Canada.

2. Yes, giving friend's address and then having Card forwarded to you by
that friend is very common. Once you have PR Card then you can use it to
return to Canada.

3. There is no exit control in Canada.

Hi Ranesh,

Pardon me but I have a couple of questions:

1. So which option did your friend choose?
2. Did he give your address as the address where the PR Card should be
posted?
3. I know it may be too soon but did you recieve his PR Card by post?

Thanks
