Research/Interview Trip
Hi
Just thought I would let you know the benefits of actually going out to the area you want to live in and meet some employers.
I have just got back from Alberta with 5 offers of employment from 5 different employers!
I know this can be expensive but in most cases if you could afford to go it can only be in your favour, as all the employers I spoke to said "it's good to meet someone who is willing to get off their butt and come and look for work, rather than expect to have one handed to them, just because you do the type of work they want"
My choosen employer is now in touch with HRDC and I hope to be out on a work permit sometime in May.
Canada was wonderful, we are going to settle in the Red Deer area and then apply for PR from there.
Hope you all find what you want, be brave and go look if you can

Re: Research/Interview Trip
I see why your fact-finding mission was successful then
Somehow I don't think the same tactic would work for a 25-year-old marketing exec looking for work in Toronto

Not true. Canada is definitely not in a recession. GDP has been
growing steadily...

Re: Research/Interview Trip
It seems a steady growth of jobless economy...closing of Canada 3000, job cuts
in JDS uniphase, job cuts and finacial trouble for Nortel, job cuts in Corel, ,
job cuts in Bombadier, job cuts by Alcatel Canada, jon cuts in service canada
ONtario, job cuts Rogers, list goes on.
China's GDP is growing at 8%, while Canada approximate 3% maybe even less, so
are there more opportunities in China?
Your thoughts

and remember recession can be technical terms, or real terms...
