Default Request clarification of family sponsorship definitions

Hi everyone.

I am right at the start of looking into Canadian immigration (specifically Ontario)
and I was wondering if someone could help me with the definitions of family. The CI
website lists the following definitions of family relationships:

1.spouses, common-law or conjugal partners 16 years of age or older;
2.parents and grandparents;
3.dependent children, including adopted children;
4.children under 18 years of age whom you intend to adopt;
5.brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or grandchildren who are orphans, under the age
of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship; and
6.any other relative if you have none of the above relatives or family members,
either in Canada or abroad.

My wife has 2 uncles who are citizens, both of which have expressed willingness to
sponsor, and my wife would be ok in group 5 (as a niece) but where would that leave
myself (legally married but not a blood relative) or our children (aged 10)? could we
be grouped together as a family, or might we fall into the heading of group 6.

any advice, ideas etc, will be gratefully received

Thanks

Mike

BTW, am I alone in finding the idea of immigration ok but the necessary paperwork
daunting? or is it supposed to be that way?
