Default Repost about inland applications

Hi,

Could someone please let us know how the new laws are going to affect inland
applications?

Also, if we marry in the states is that ok or will we need a minister's permit and
how much is that?

With this strike going on we can't get married now in Ontario. We have been living
together in Canada for one year, while making frequent enough visits back to the
states together. I was awaiting a divorce to be finalized during that time so I
suppose we aren't common law because of my marital status during the year's time? (if
I am wrong about that tell me,plzzz)

I really want to be able to work but have no degree so I guess that is
impossible....I (the girl) am from the US, and he was born and raised and lived
forever in Canada and neither of us has a criminal record or any such thing.... I am
offered work quite often but I don't want to do anything wrong, we just want to do
everything properly so we can be together.

Any suggestions/knowledge?

Best Regards!

Don't forget that there will be an "in canada" spousal class, where no H.&
C. application will be required, but the applicant has to have legal status in
Canada. Those that marry in Canada without status will still have to apply under
H.& C. grounds. There is an indication that separation in that the applicant has
to return to his/her homeland will in itself not be sufficient grounds for an H.&
C. approval.

What kind of legal status is that? Just that you are here legally and that you have
not overstayed your 6 months? Or do you have to have some kind of visitor's record? I
am from the states.

I thought the wish to avoid spousal separation was by far the main reason for H. &
C. approval?

What other H. & C. grounds are there in such circumstances?

In land applications will not be significantly affected by the new regs. Much of the
items in the manuals now will become part of the regs.

There will be several in Canada classes. It kind of makes sense and I think
that is good.

As far as the HC issue spouses have always been good reason and I kind of feel that
in bona fide marriages that will continue to be the case. Can you imagine separation
not being a hardship?
