Default Renewal of PR Card Travelling Soon

Hi All

I recently realised my PR card was due to expire just before a short trip to the UK and unfortunately I hadn't left enough time to comfortably renew my card (just under 2 months) before travelling.

As I didn't have confirmed travel arrangements yet, I intended to send in a routine application and then ask for urgent processing as soon as I had confirmed tickets. It was explained to me however that its far better to wait until you have confirmed travel arrangements, then put in an urgent application. If you send in a routine application there is a danger that if your routine application hasn't started to be processed, it may be impossible to upgrade it to an urgent application, with the only solution being a second PR Card renewal application (urgent).

Because CIC treated my application as urgent, I received my new PR card within 2 weeks which was fantastic .

Regards
