Default Renee, why did you submitted papers imm don't ask for!

Hello Dear,

In one of your early post you mentioned that you submitted: resume, letters
from your employers, education certificates etc. however in your application
there are no even mentioning of those papers. Moreover, you are being
sponsored and you do not score points for your education and/or jobs held.

Why are you doing this (my guess would be - to make those guys work for the
money that you paid, in that case you should've also include files on all
of your ex boyfriends, relatives, friends etc.)

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I did that because I didn't want to take for granted that CIC was only
evaluating the fact that I am married to a Canadian. If it were that easy,
they'd just ask me for a marriage certificate and a criminal check and be
done with it. They wanted ten years of employment history in their
application package. I can't help but believe that they are also evaluating
my ability to successfully settle in Canada as a permanent resident.

Section 10.5 of the inland manual says that, "Sponsors of spouses and common
law partners do not have to meet financial requirements, but they do
undertake to provide for the basic necessitites of the sponsored applicants
so that the applicants do not need social assistance. Applicants may be
refused for financial reasons under A39, if they are unable or unwilling to
support themselves...and there are not adequate arrangements for their care
and support." By proving my strong work history, that allays any fears
that I cannot provide adequate arrangements for my living expenses.

I didn't submit anything too official for my work history documentation. I
printed a resume on good quality paper, but the letters from my employers
are references that I routinely use when interviewing for jobs. They were
photocopies of letters on company letterhead paper that I asked for when I
left my different jobs. The first big company I worked for after graduating
from university was in financial trouble after trying to expand too quickly,
and I had a feeling that I'd have trouble getting any proof of employment
from them if they went bankrupt. After that, I just routinely asked for a
letter when I left a job.

I didn't get an original educational certificate or transcript - I just
included photocopies of my Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Business
Administration degrees.

I figured that they asked for a ten year history of my previous employers
for a reason in the application forms, so I'd do anything I could to make
any background checks in that area easier - and hopefully quicker. I'm
getting antsy living out of my savings account, and I really want to get to
the AIP stage so I can start working.

The sponsor signs an undertaking agreeing to support the applicant, but I'm
not there while the officer is reviewing my case. I wanted to give CIC a
good amount of supporting documentation showing that I have a strong skill
set with excellent references from previous employers. To me, the more I
can show that I can make a smooth transition to Canada, the easier the
review process is for my officer. I'm moving to Canada after marrying a
Canadian, but I'm want to show that they have no worries about my not being
able to contribute to supporting my husband and myself.

Renee
