Rejection of visit visa to France
hi everyone,
Here is our story...after a two year long wait, we finally got the
interview letter from the canadian embassy,Paris. the interview is
scheduled for 5th february, 2003. We attached the interview letter
alongwith the application for a visit visa to Paris, thinking that the
French consulate in Bombay, India will not have any doubts about our
purpose of visit. But our visa was rejected the next day. To our utter
dismay, we were informed that they had taken a decision not to grant
visit visas for those who plan to attend The canadian immigration
interviews!!!! We would have had a better chance of getting the visit
visa if we had lied about the purpose of our visit. We should have
kept quiet about the interview and applied just for a tourist visa.
All our time, money and efforts have gone down the drain...thanks to
such an unreasonable policy.
Anyway, my advice to all Indians ( as i am not sure about the french
embassy's decision in other countries) is : please do not produce your
interview letter when you apply for a visit visa to paris. Honesty
doesnt pay these days!!
All the best for all the prospective immigrants!

Unfortunately your advice is wrong - one should never lie or omit any
information when dealing with immigration authorities in any country.
Also your example proves again and again that applying through the visa post
other than one normally processing immigration applications from your
country of nationality or legal residence was not a very smart idea.

Re: Rejection of visit visa to France
You shouldn't loose hope yet. A friend of mine had same problem with
the British Embassy in Kiev but later requested transfer of his file
to Kiev. That costs extra money which I think is insignificant
compared to what you've spent so far.
