Surely your employer would know how to write a reference letter.

Nope as Aviator said - its just a standard ref letter. Dates of employment, duties, attitude etc.

Hi all,

What happens if you don't want current employer to know your plans? How do you go about supplying required info if you can't ask them for a reference?

OH just started at new company and as he is on temp contract at the moment, doesn't want to tell them in case they don't extend it. He's getting on well and I think they will keep him on but not if they know he could be about to fly off into the sunset!

Can you just send a letter explaining the situation?
