I am living in Canada on a work permit and recently received the interview
waiver after about 18 months of my PR application.
CIC asked for RCMP clearance along with couple of other country police
clearances. I received all other clearances within a month but they say RCMP
is taking 5-6 months.
Can anybody share their recent RCMP clearance experience? Is it really 5-6
months?

My wife's was completed and recieved in early Jan.

It took about 4.5 months

I would not be surprised that it is longer now, as when mine was submitted
it stated on RCMP site it would be 90 days, and not long after, they changed
it to 150 days

I applied for an RCMP clearance Sept 2003, and it took about 6 or 7 weeks (even though the RCMP were quoting 150 days).

submitted august 2003 from the UK (we had to get my canadian partners clearance plus mine from when i lived in canada previously), we got hers back first within 4-5 weeks and then mine came about 2 weeks later. I think they always give worst case scenario, that way you dont bug em to death if its not arrived within a few weeks.

check from the RCMP (since I was living in Canada for more than six
months).

Where can I download the original fingerprint form for the criminal
records check? I was surfing all over
http://www.rcmp.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm#Obtain, but couldn't find a
link to download that form.

Do you know where to get that form?

Do you have any experience with obtaining police clearance from the
US? Do they have a similar form as well?

Hi Helmut,

You don't find the forms in the website. Please visit any of your local police office and ask for this service. They charge you some fee and take the fingerprints on the application and give it to you. You then have to forward the application to their ottawa office (address is written on the application) for further processing

Hope this answers your question. Also note that the RCMP will do the fingerprints for free, while the police will charge you $25. So book an appointment at your local RCMP detachment, and just take the form that is in the application package with you. Here is the site that explains what you have to do:
