Default questions plz

Where would i phone to find out the status of our application...
The people we hired (mentioned in earlier posts) really don't tell us
much and it's driving us nuts...
we aquired thier services Feb 2002, filled out and signed all forms
including a visitor visa ... payed thier fees and also the fees for
immigration 575(i think it is) and the 75 for the visa... then in
June/July for some reason we had to fill the forms out again .... then
in november he sent the forms to us AGAIN to fill out ... and each time
he asked AGAIN for all the copies of recipts, marriage licence, birth
certificates, proof of incomes, etc.... it's now 16 mths from the time
we aquired thier services and 3 visitor visa's later and I don't even
know where we stand and when my husband will become a PR.... and from
looks of things the only way I can get answers is if I call immigration
themselves (if they will provide the information)

Our lives have been on hold for the past year waiting for this to happen
.... we have a perfect opportunity to buy this house we are renting and
the banks won't even look at him till his is a PR of canada. We were
lucky to get a place to rent ... most of the places we applied to rent
from wouldn't look at him cause he wasn't from canada ... some even told
us the reason they weren't going to rent to us was because my husband
holds all the money and because he's not from canada could skip out on
me any time thus leaving them screwed for the rent....

My husband also doesn't have any health insurance because the company
he was with in the states said that it was no good for outside of the
US... so we pray each day that he doesn't get sick....
And for many other things he won't even get noticed because he doesn't
have his PR.

Any suggestions on what to do and also Does this time line sound a
little skunky to anyone ... seems like 16 mths is a little long to wait
and no requests for medicals or the police checks or anything yet ....
i've read posts on here that ppl were getting them in less than 16 mths
...
My husband is starting to feel that we just got ripped out of $1000 US
which at the time we paid it was about 1570.35 CAD

Can we ask for our money back as it seems we are not getting the service
we paid for ... seems they are always screwing up ... just recently he
sent us the forms for a new visitor visa and i sent it back with what
corrections to put in it .. well he sent it back to 2 more time with NO
corrections made.... at all...
he finally after i called them today sent us the forms with all the
corrections made.... but i guess i still have to wait for the receipt.
I have also asked now to have copies of everything pertaining to our
case sent to us... i got a bunch of procrastinating... if someone
requests to see their files are they not intitled to that?

Anyway ...
thanks in advance to anyone who can advise us

Quick question.....have you gotten anything from Immigration?

If so there should be a number on it, this would be your case number
and with that you can give them a call and ask as many questions as
you feel needed.

As far as buying a house, have you checked out National Bank of
Canada? This is where we got your home loan, and no I was not landed
when they gave us a small loan for this house. We were able to put up
a large down payment for this house and the loan.

My time line.....maybe this will help ease your mind some.

Married Aug 97...sent all paperwork in Sep 97, this would include
Medical, RCMP fingerprints, FBI Check, application for extension of
visa....what a joke that was, never got it, sponsorship app., photos
of the wedding, including all members of the wedding. Send all fees to
include Landing fees

Oct 97 received latter from immigration about visa, said they will
wait to issue it pending outcome of immigration application, also got
letter from immigration with case number on it.

Dec 97 X-spouse "Ship" second child to Canada, as X couldn't handle
the child. Called CIC and thought they had 2nd child listed as now
being in Canada.

Feb 98 bought new home

Jun 98 painted house and made many upgrades to it and moved in, also
received letter asking us to attend a interview. We were questioned
separately one in French and the other in English. Took all paperwork
to interview including copies of CSQ's for children and proof of
private insurance. Blue Cross and Blue Shield doesn't cover in
Quebec, but is good for the rest of Canada, also copy of spouse
insurance. After Interview was told that we were approved in
Principle.

Aug 98 Got letter of AIP and requesting another medical for second
child. First medical was done in Oct 97, but child left Canada and it
was no longer valid. Took child back for 2nd medical.

Nov 99 Got letter from CIC asking that we show up with all visa's and
all letters that we have gotten from them since we first filled for
immigration. Got Landing Papers, visa officer wanted our visa's told
him that we did not have any extension to our visa, gave him the
letter and he said that the person that handled our visa paper work
was not longer doing visa's anymore.

So why did it take soooo long to get PR? Someone messed up, 2nd child
wasn't added when our status changed I have no idea why it took so
long, but after landing I was able to get my household goods packed
and ship to Canada.

When I first started there was someone on this board that has been
waiting for over 10 years for AIP, I think this person was from BC

Now what can you do to speed things up a bit,

1. Take medicals

2. Do your RCMP Check

3. Do Your FBI Check

4. Do your 10year living in state or states police check.

If you have a CIC number put this on all letters and forms that need
to be filled out, also state in letters that the FBI Check is for
immigration to Canada.

Take Care

If you are in Canada contact your Member of Parliaments contituency
office and explain your problem and ask them to contact CIC to
determie if there is a file in your husbands name and what the status
of the application is. If there is no file contact the police and file
a complaint.
