Hi everyone,
Thought there are helpful people here having experiences on both sides
of the border. I am Canadian and I got a job offer from a company in the
US doing finance. The company hires me as a "management consultant" for
TN-1 sponsorship.
1) what is the best arrangement for tax reporting? Do I have to maintain
my Canadian residence for TN-1? I am NOT interested in getting a US PR
status at all.
2) what is the best procedure to obtain TN-1? I already have the Company
Offer Letter. Do I just show up at the border with my diplomas or is it
better to get TN-1 at the US consulate in Vancouver beforehand?
3) I will drive down to California in my own car with a U-hal rental tow
truck carrying family/furniture stuff. What's the best arrangement for
license plate? Do I drive down on a British Columbia plate and mail it
back to ICBC later to get refund for the remaining amount of annual
insurance? Or do I keep using BC plate in California if ICBC policy
covers California region? I heard car insurance in California is more
expensive than that of BC. True?
Thanks in advance.
