Hi Experts,

I'm a landed immigrant and currently residing in Canada. I am looking for answers to
three questions regarding my landing paper.

1) I got the immigration almost two and a half year ago and even at that time the
impression at my landing paper was not very prominent but it was readable. Over
the period of time, it has faded further and now it is not readable at all. My job
requires frequent traveling and I have faced problems at the airports where they
have questioned the authensity of my landing paper. My question is, under these
circumstance, can I get a replacement of my landing paper? Which office I should
contact and how long does it take to get a replacement?

2) As you might have seen, there is one box on landing paper which says 'expires
........'. This box tells the expiry of the landing paper if it is not validated
before that time (First time of entry in Canada). It further strengthens the
doubts of immigration officers if this date has already passed (In my case, it has
long passed). Now is there any document I can keep with me to prove them that this
landing paper is still valid?

3) Once I came across the situation when the travel agent refused to issue me the
ticket thinking my landing paper has expired. I had to go to The Canadian High
Commission of that country and get a letter that the landing paper is valid. The
immigration officer told me that they have heard about these sort of problems and
they are planning to issue a card like 'green card' for immigrants. Have they
started issuing these cards or when do they plan to do so?

Thanks a lot,

N W.

Phone the Immigration Call Centre 1-888-242-2100 or the local number if you live in
Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver or go to a local CIC. Request a verification of Entry.
It will cost you $30.00, It takes about 30 days to process. If you request it by
mail, you will probably have to attend the CIC to pick it up with picture ID. It is a
certified true copy of your landing record.

I doubt very much if that box confuses Canadian Immigration Officers, they know
what it means.

Permanent Resident Card will probably not be issued until C-11 is passed. Once it is
PR card is available, with the number of Immigrants who will require it may take
quite a while to issue to previously landed immgrants.

Contact your local Canadian Immigration Centre. You should be able to get the
landing document replaced at a cost of CAD$35. It may be possible to have it done
on the spot.

If you had not landed on or prior to the expiration date, you would not have been
admitted as a permanent resident. I would be surprised if a Canadian immigration
official would question your status on this basis.

This card is expected to start distribution this summer.
