Hi,

I am a Landed Immigrant. I wish to sponsor my mother under Family Class category. She
is visiting Canada this year end on Visitor visa. Should I start the immigration
process, once she goes back or can I start the process during her stay in Canada.

Thanks,

VR

Hi:

It is best that you start your mother's immigration process after she has entered
Canada. Otherwise, she may be refused entry into Canada as a visitor after she has
submitted an application for Canadian permanent residency. This is because, in order
to qualify for entry into Canada as a visitor, your must satisfy a visa officer that
you intend on entering Canada temporarily.
