A question of Names

Hi
I was wondering what the situation is regarding last names. I am getting married to
my fiancee in August and intend to apply for immigration soon afterwards. Normally
the lady takes the mans name, but as it's the 21st century we are both gonna use the
double barrelled name of say smith-jones , where my names was jones and hers smith
(not our real names if you couldn't guess hehe ). So normally there is a provision
for women taking their husbands name with the whole maiden name thing and it's pretty
much well known. How does this lie with the husband if he has the double name too ?
what documents will that require changing if any. Before i apply will i need to send
for a new passport wit the extra barrel for the name? and things like my degree and
drivers license for when i bring that and should i put the double barrel name on the
application ? or will they see that i've been married and gone from say John Jones to
John Smith-Jones and everything will be fine as its just an assumed married name and
not a legal name change so it will be on my birth certificate anyway? not sure how it
all works having not been married before hehe
