Default Question for experts on internal job move

I applied via the SAP route in Feb 07, so am prepared to wait another year to get my visa, but I was at a conference yesterday and a colleague from Toronto told me about a vacancy in Vancouver which I am perfect for (would have been great this time next year). It is a highly specialised position, requiring specialist knowledge of HIV and infectious diseases...I have a Ph.D. in this area, and years of medical research and commercial experience in it. If I had my PR already it would be straight forward, but before I send my CV to the woman I spoke to, I want to let them know how long it would take and how easy/hard it would be to get me into the role, considering my expertise and considering that it is an internal move within my corporation. If I can reassure them it is straight forward, I think it will help my application.

I realise the help of a consultant may be useful, and if my employer wishes to proceed, I'll probably hire one.

Cheers in advance for any replies.

No reason why you should need a consultant if it's a straightforward intra-company transfer. You wouldn't need a LMO or even have to wait for a TWP - if you get all the documents required as mentioned in the below Wiki article then you can jump on a plane next week and apply for TWP at POE. So couldn't be more straightforward or easy for your company, they just need to provide some simple paperwork (i.e. job offer letter etc) and you can be there straight away.

Have a read of this, good luck.

Thanks for that... having trouble with link, could be my PC.

One more question to follow on from that...let's say they gave me the job, how would I then proceed with PR app? Just continue as is, but say that I have a job offer...or what? Also, I guess I wouldn't need proof of funds...something that everyone should be concerned about with Gordon Brown destroying our currency at the moment!!

Cheers. Wow, that just seems too easy, here's hoping they want to take me on now! I've gone from not expecting to go to Canada this century to thinking it's a year away, to maybe going in a couple of months!! Scary.

Once you've started working for a few months in Canada on your TWP, you'd then ask your employer to give you a letter which states that they want to employ you permanently. You would submit this letter as well as copies of some pay slips you've received along with your application for PR.

As you would be working in Canada you would not need to have proof of funds.
