Default Q to Mr. Miller

If I applied for a PR throug Buffalo when I am in Canada on a work permit,
and in the meanwhile marry my Canadian girlfriend,
but my application as a skilled worker is too far along to change type of
application to family class, would I still be able to extend my stay in
Canada,so I can be here with my Canadian wife until Buffalo finalize my
case?
