Question Proof of Funds

I was at the emigrate 2004 show at York this year and was told by the Canadian London Embassy that they now accept a valuation of your house and a current morgage statement as proof of funds, they also said this in a Question/Answer session which around 100 people attended. I have noticed differant advice being given in this forum can anyone shed some light?

This has been their practice when the applicant presents proper evidence of the net worth of the property.

Wait, I live in York and am applying to Canada. How did I miss this? When was this show?

Hi, we sent a fax to London a couple of months back, to ask them about the proof of funds (we didn't fancy selling our house before we even sent away the application forms!).

They phoned about 3 days later and the lady was very helpful. She said they are happy (at the moment, anyway) to accept house valuations and mortgage statements to give them a rough idea of available funds.

Cheers!
