You need to give some details about your application. What kind of appication? What Visa office? Check out the CIC website.

We have nearly filled our forms in, its in the skilled worker group and it is the London office.
Might have to try the job route then

Yes it's great isn't it! I've been here for a year and a half and now I have to leave because I don't have PR and it's SO hard to leave.
Kelowna is nice. I've heard it's especially nice in the summer too (I went for the snow at Big White and Silver Star
)
London as a Skilled Worked is giving people a time of 39 months on their AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) letter at the moment. I think this is due to go up to 42 months soon. This doesn't necessarily mean it will take that long, but it certainly is a possibility.
The waiting isn't easy either, trust me!

Those 39 months are just guesstimate for period from application to initial assessment (decision about interview) - add to it at least few months for cases with interview waived and at least 15 months for cases requiring interview to have a guesstimate for the total timeline. Also note that timeline guesstimate goes up by at least a month every month now.

kevinm - Go back to Kelowna and start looking for a job! If you're applying as a skilled worker you could be looking at arriving in Canada in 4 years!! Canada is booming at the moment which means one of two things i think. Either processing times will speed up to get more people in quick to sustain the economy, OR, processing times will slow down due to the huge influx of applcations of people that want to get to a country that is really happening at the moment. What do you do for a living? You may have a high demand occupation and might be able to go down the PNP route. I know you like Kelowna, who doesn't (expensive housing though), but you may want to look for work in an area that's higher demand. The less popular provinces might be easier to get into. You can always move after a year and at least you will be in Canada! There's not a huge demand for domestic or foreign workers in a low demand area like the Okanagan.
We were lucky - fell for Kelowna but got offered a job in Kamloops. We started the whole immigration process in June last year and we're moving on June 17. It can be quick if you're prepared to work a little at it.
Hope that helps...
