Processing time from Hong Kong?
Hi All,
I am an Indian citizen, applied Canada immigration under skilled category in Dec 99 from Hong Kong. Now I am working in USA from last 3.5 yrs.
I updated my file many times with all the paper work, new forms, proof of funds, FBI/PCC clearance. As per the law, my application should be assessed according to old immigration regulation. I did not submit IELTS result (got 6.5).
My lawyer told me one guy got a query (proof of fund) and other got interview waiver. Both filed their application at the same time with me.
I am getting frustrated now. How much time it will take? Any one has idea, what's going on in Hong Kong? I did not request CAIPS notes. Should I go for that now or wait?
Thanks,
Rahul

You shouldn't let your lawyer submit application to Hong Kong in the first
place. Now you are paying time penalty for out of jurisdiction application.
It may take another year or so before you hear anything.

Re: Processing time from Hong Kong?
AM,
Thanks for prompt response. I agree with you that time I did not know all these (out of jurisdiction) processes.
Here I have questions:
1. People are getting response that applied same time with me (one got interview waiver) and they are also Indian citizen. But I did not hear anything. May be I did not submit IELTS or some other reason?
2. In IELTS, I have 7 in writing and others are 6.5. Overall is 6.5. Should I submit that result? My application is of Nov 99 that comes under old law.
3. Does it make sense to apply for CAIPS report?
Thanks,
Rahul

OK. Let me send my IELTS.
My lawyer told me that one more guy got waiver who applied same time with me in 1999. He even did not update the file/no IELTS.

Forget what your lawyer told you - there are no 2 identical cases and you
can't compare your case to anyone else's.

Go for CAIPS.
CAIPS is available for $30. and in USA $30 is nothing. You can scan 2 required forms (after filled) and email them. In 5 weeks, you will get result. At least you will know, how many points you have.

Re: Go for CAIPS.
Finally I got my medical papers (without sending IELTS) and request for landing fee.
I think I am in second round for background/security check loop. Let wait for few more months.
Thanks for your all help and ans. my all questions.
