Default processing delays

Hi,

I sponsored my wife in December and the application was sent for
processing to CHC London in January. We just received all our
supporting documents back from them (proof of relationship) and they
have requested a police certificate. Uk applicants are not supposed to
send police certificate at first with the application. Does anyone
have an idea how much this can slow down the process? It says on the
letter that it can take 3-6 months to review any incoming
correspondence. And we also just found out my wife is pregnant, do we
need to inform the CHC of this? we want the baby to be born here but
it all depends on the immigration now. My wife is here on a visit visa
at the moment but cannot use the public health services without PR
status.

It really should not take so long for review of a simple document. The visa
office is giving general information in their letter. My reading of the
instructions was that the PC should be included with the application. It
may be inconvenient now but the faster it is done the better. There are
instructions on the CHC website as to how to obtain one, but they seem to
assume that you will be in the UK when you apply for one.
If you are a Canadian citizen your child will be too so no real problem with
immigration.

Hi thanks for ur msg. Actually I am permanent resident myself, not yet
a canadian citizen. So does this change anything with regards to our
baby? the baby is due in november and i am applying for citizenship in
september.
also when we did apply for my wifes permanent residency the
instructions on the website were not to send a police certificate for
uk with the application unless requested later.

Changes nothing as long as baby is born in Canada.

Changes everything if baby is born outside Canada - in such case baby would
also have to be sponsored.
