I think that we have inadvertently started a support group.
Be good for us all to inform the 'group' as we progress through the med process.
This forum has been invaluable for the info and advice based on peoples experiences and those who were previously employed as Immigration Officers.

It would be good as you say to hear about the outcomes from anyone who has gone through the process especially the repeat med process.

I had the same thing happen to me in July 2007. I had my medical and received a phone call from my DMP telling me they thought I had TB as a calcified nodule had been found on my x-ray, and that an appointment had been made with a specialist.

I saw the specialist in September and she asked me to get 2 skin tests done by my DMP (who was lovely and didn't charge me), both were negative. I was unable to produce sputum and had no symptoms what-so-ever.

She said it was common for CIC Health department to ask for additional testing, that they were over-cautious but that she had to "go through the motions" in order to get me clearance.

I was sent for a 2nd x-ray in December and saw the specialist at the same time. My x-ray was completely clear and the specialist told me that I did not have TB, had never had TB and there was nothing wrong with me.

She issued a letter to CIC and I was given complete medical clearance in January 2008. I was issued with an OHIP card 3 months later.

This was in Canada, but I hope this is of help.

The key point here is that the follow up was done in Canada. That makes a difference to the CIC med staff.

I never received a call from the DMP, just the letter from CIC asking for the tests. Have to say, as my friend had it I know the symptoms and have none of them. I found it hard to do the sputum test but deposited what I could so to speak. Now I just have to wait until June to go for the repeat X-rays. It would be nice to have some sort of idea of how long the wait is after they receive the results but then I would also like to win the lottery!

Any extra paperwork could delay a case, and if the visa officer has a new medical report to consider, then I can see why that would cause a further delay. But I'm just guessing, whereas Jim is an expert who will have seen this happen many, many times and know exactly what process will be followed when new paperwork that hasn't been requested is suddenly sent in.
I can state it as fact and did so on April 19th christmas!

I was not being flippant in the sligtest there is absolutly nothing to be flippant about when it comes to the worry of dodgy meds I can assure you

As always i was sharing my findings and experiences in the hope that it might help others

we landed last night and huge luck to all

Hi all

I thought i'd share our experience. We had medicals in Leeds july 08, i tested positive for blood in urine and hubby had to have repaet x-rays plus sputum test, further investigation on myself led to me having to have a major op in Nov. At this point we were more worried about my health and Canada got put on the back burner also i think that as we both had shown 'problems' in medicals we had begun to believe the dream would end before it started. Well upshot is we received our visa's in March and are landing on the 11th May. Consultant for me just wrote that i was fine and recovered well and we never actually heard anything regarding hubbys repeat x-ray and sputum test so assume obviously that there was no problems.

Anyway hope that helps a little , we really do know how worrying it is.

good luck but i'm sure you'll be fine

Traci

One of the few cases I dealt with where TB was found was a physician who was greatly surprised to learn of the situation. After proper treatment the case went forward normally. That doctor felt lucky to have learned about the TB before it became a larger problem.

Monkey Puzzle thanks.

My repeat x-ray and sputum results have all been sent to CIC on Saturday. So with any luck we should have a positive reply in the next few weeks.

Good luck with your meds.

Well my results have been sent off to CIC, all clear like I knew they would be. I know we shouldn't compare timelines but we all do (it helps pass the time between visits from the postman), so when I hear something I will update so that if you feel the urge to compare dates, you can.
