Pregnancy Healthcare Options ?
Hi All,
Need some advise here. If a new immigrant couple land in Ontario and wife is 6-7 months pregnant, do they have any possibility of insurance coverage or will they have to pay for all the pregnancy and childbirth expenses on their own ?
Thanks

Unless they get travel insurance, before they arrive, that covers them,
it is unlikely because of the 'pre-existing condition' that they will be
covered. It may be possible to get private insurance after they arrive that
would cover a pregnancy, but it's not common.

Once their OHIP coverage kicks in all will be covered, so better make sure
that you land at least 3 months before baby's due date. But nothing will be
covered before OHIP coverage starts.
