I don't quite get this....
"A permanent resident who stays outside Canada for more than six months in any
12-month period may be considered to have established residence elsewhere and may
lose his or her permanent resident status."
Does this mean a TOTAL of 6 months in any 12 month period (I left Canada then
returned 3 months later then left for another 3 months)? Or 6 months straight (I left
Canada and returned 6 months later)?
Thanks guys!

It is cumulative, it doesn't need to be 6 months straight.

I'm not an expert - Just my interpretation based on all I've read:
- pick any date, past or present
- go back exactly 12 (twelve) months from that date
- calculate how long you've been out of Canada during those twelve months
- (Assuming the above twelve month period is after Landing), if the number is less
than or equal to 6 (six) months/183 days, you are okay, technically.
-Lute.
