I completed my PR application on Monday and got my invitation today (Thursday). Is that normal? Or, is it quicker because of Covid and I'm already living and working in Canada?

Also, as I'm already living and working here, do I still need a proof of funds? It seems silly to have to bring money to Canada when my wife and I are already working, paying rent, childcare etc.

• you’re applying under the Canadian Experience Class or
• you’re authorized to work in Canada and you have a valid job offer, even if you apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program

Yes, perfectly normal, it's not quicker because you're living and working in Canada. You simply applied 3 days before a draw and scored high enough that you were selected in that draw. Draws are done every couple of weeks, and invites given to those scoring the highest.

You can't have been invited under both FSW and CEC, it must be one or the other, so check which and read the program requirements carefully to make sure you supply all the right supporting documents.

It's a CEC invite. So I guess that I don't need a proof of funds.
