That's strange that they have requested a photo after you have landed. Almost sounds as if they had an issue with the ones submitted before COPR?
We were not required to submit any more photos for the card after receiving the COPR.
Hopefully they are processing it as a priority now for you.

No, we just posted the photos (with copies of passports) when requested prior to COPR.

I'm in the same boat. I landed on October 30th and still no sign of my card. I phoned CIC last week and was told that they hadn't started processing my card yet and I should call back in a month... Extremely frustrating!

Your update made me think of something Siv.

We've come to accept a 6 month turnaround on PR card renewals as "normal" but it's a really long time. Trying to look at it objectively, what do you think a "reasonable" processing time for PR card renewals would be? Just leaving aside for a minute stuff we know like the fact that CIC have to ensure an applicant has met the RO etc., what do you think the times should be? I'd like to suggest around 3-5 weeks.

My PR card arrived today; landed on 20 Jan, I make that 51 days. Much faster than I expected!

Hi Snowy!!

It would likely split a neutral audience, although we would all "genuinely" like things to move along a little faster. However, I still think there is room for faster processing, especially with the changes in technology over the last 5 years. Also, I fully respect the importance of initial PR, of course they should take priority ... BUT ... given the term "PR Renewal", it makes you think about other systems in life, where a "Renewal" can typically be "less information submitted" or a "minimal process" based on a small amount of information, given that we are talking "renewal" and not "the fully monty" start from scratch approach.

So .. that's how I feel about the big picture right now. Regardless, I would be sooooooooooo relieved to receive my PR Renewal before we reach for the skies in the months ahead, but being realistic, I am not holding out much hope.

Kind Regards,
Siv

6 months does seem an extremely long time to wait - why does it take so much longer than a first PR card?
And given they can process a complete PR application in such a short time-frame now I would think they should be able to streamline their system somehow.
I would say 2 months would be more reasonable.

I think with renewals (as opposed to issuing first PR cards) it's about establishing the applicant has met the RO and that there's no other reason not to issue a new card. But I still think the process overall could be quicker.

Yes, okay, 5 weeks to 2 months. That's "reasonable".

Keep in mind that there were no PR cards produced in Oct/Nov when the system was changing over.

CIC Update from Monday 21st March ... (longer delay in updating their website than usual, possibly due to the long weekend?)

New PR Card:
54 Days

PR Renewals:
103 Days ~ Working on applications received on January 4th, 2015.

Slight increase in initial PR Apps, although almost another 30 days leap forward for PR Renewals in approx. 1 week! (if that's how we are supposed to interpret their figures?)

Kind Regards,
Siv
