Default PR Card Processing Times

According to IRCC the processing times for PR cards are 113 days for initial issue cards and 177 days for renewals - plan ahead!

Its now saying 299 days to renew, its crazy, I was planning on 6/8 weeks, Ours ran out last week and we're just sent the forms off. Our PR should me complete long before our cards arrive, but better to be on the safe side.

Call me cynical, but I wonder if they will go back to their old trick (personal opinion - no 'proof') of saying the photo does not meet the specification!

They also probably do not have all their usual staff working .............. off in isolation, working from home, or seconded to other departments. A lot of civil servants were seconded to deal with applications for all the fundings announced by the Feds, and even to work at airports checking arrivals.

So if you need to go back to the UK without a PR card I am assuming you will have to apply for a PRTD to allow you to return to Canada. Question is with staff shortages how long will it take to get a PRTD?

With all the delays over the past 3 months you would have thought they would have extended the validity of the cards, especially if you're renewing your cards, as always nothing is simple.

OTOH you can renew them from 9 months before they expire.

Yes and No. If wanting to fly to Canada direct then yes valid PR card or PRTD. Alternatively fly to the USA on UK passport and ESTA. Drive to Canada and produce UK passport and landing document.

Into Canada yes as you are a PR. As for entering the USA check with the US websites but they are receiving multiple flights a day but land border is different. I am paid in Canadian dollars not US ones

You can't travel directly from UK to US unless you are LPR or US citizen.

Didn't know that.

I asked CIC London about PRTD processing time and they said allow 5-10 working days for a straightforward case.

It's probably part of the restrictions of covid on travel.
