PR Card Extension Problem
Hi everyone
I need some help with regards to my PR card extension.
It has been about 10 months since I applied for the extension of my PR card. I received a request by CIC for additional documents about 4 months ago, and sent them the requested documents about a month later.
Since I have planned for a short trip abroad in early July, I am going to need my PR card to be able to return to Canada (I am aware of the travel document etc, but I don't want to take risk). I have even purchased my ticket, as it was the only way I could request an expedited process. But there has been no response so far.
Do you guys know of a way to ask them to process my application ASAP, before I miss my trip and lose all the money and time I have spent on it? I mean it has been 10 months... the normal process takes 2.5 months now
Thanks

Re: PR Card Extension Problem
The official CIC advice (see link below) is to apply for a PRTD if your travel dates are <6 weeks out* .
Urgent processing of a permanent resident card
Otherwise, you could (& should, IMO) ask your MP to intervene, but I wouldn't bet on the card coming through in time.
* This didn't used to be the case, but unfortunately CIC seems to have removed the urgent processing with proof of travelling (tickets) option.
