Question Police Clearance from multiple countries

Greetings. I have been reading up on this forum with interest after I recently decided to apply for Canadian immigration. Lots of intersting information and some very positive replies from members.

I have however been stumped about one question: In the past 6 years I have lived in Germany and the UK for more than 6 months each and am now in the US for the last 4.5 years. I have collected my FBI fingerprinting documentation but do I still need to apply for German and UK police clearance? And will I also have to request official University transcripts from there to include in my application (I will be sending in my US transcripts)?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Regards, Jawad

Hi Jawad,

yes indeed as you have found out your self you will have to get Police
clearances fromù these countries. You can contact the respective
Embassies of these countries in the US and they should be able to Tell
you how you can get them.

I know from my experience that for Germany you have to write a letter
to an office in Bonn I dont remember the address now. You have to get
that letter certified from the German Embassy at the place where you
are living now, before you send it.

Also if you look at the Visa Office specific instructions from the
Post where you are applying they should have a description of how you
can get the Polic certificates from each country.

Thumbs up Re: Police Clearance from multiple countries

Anwer,

Thanks for your reply. I was able to find detailed information and now have a better understanding of what to do. For others who might be interested, here's a list of mailing addresses for obtaining Police Clearance certificates from specific countries. As for the UK, it's explained quite well (with the help of 2 applicant scenarios) in this pdf document from the London Office (pages 6-7).

Each Embassy/High Commission seems to have different requirements, as noted
elsewhere these are detailed within the visa post specific instructions.
This may be important if you have your file transferred from one country to
another as a friend of mine recently found - Buffalo did not want certs from
Germany but when he transferred his case to CHC London they did and he had
additional delays while he got it.

Migrant,

Thanks for your reply. I was however looking at the Buffalo page on Police certification and it seems to specifically mention that A Police Certificate is required from the country where the applicant CURRENTLY lives, along with ALL other countries where the applicant has resided in for 6 months or more since age 18. So I am assuming that German Police clearance is also needed. Could you please tell me why Buffalo did not need German clearance certificates for your friend. Is this stated somewhere?

Thanks,

Jawad

Question Re: Police Clearance from multiple countries

Hi Jawad!

I need a little information regarding canadian immigration. I live in Pakistan. Last year I was in TX USA where I stayed more than 6 months. So my question is do I need both fbi and TX police clearance certificate or fbi clearance is enough to apply for canadian immigration? Another question is how to get fbi clearance certificate as right now I am pakistan?
