Default Points fro arranged employment??, Mr Miller, Mr Humphries

Is a postdoctoral position considered "Assured offer of employment"
under the Quebec selection grid??.

We came to Canada as temporary worker and my husband is working as a
post-doctoral fellow at Laval University since June last year. I have
an open work permit. Recently we have applied for the CSQ (for PR) and
we want to calculate how many points we score. Since he has a
postdoctoral position he did not have to go trough HRDC validation (or
the equivalent in Quebec), so we are wondering if he can get the
points in the "Assured offer of employment" category anyway.

My second question: in case we score more than the maximum points for
Quebec: are going to be called for interview anyway (assuming that
everything else is clear enough to make a decision)???.

Thanks a lot!!!!

No, it is only a temporary employment, not a permanent position.

Interview requirement or waiver has absolutely nothing to do with the number
of points scored. It has everything to do with officer's determination if
selection decision can be made solely on the basis of submitted information
and evidence, without need to verify or clarify anything during the
interview.

Thanks a lot Mr Miller!!!. I really appreciate your help!!!

I have one more question regarding the "second speciality issue". I do
not if in our case we can say that my husband has a second speciality
or not. He made his Bachelor in Biochemistry (the diploma say exactly
that), then he made his Master in Molecular Immunology (the diploma
say master in Molecular Immunology) and finally he made his PhD in a
different university and country(the diploma say PhD in Natural
Sciences, but he specialized in Mass Spectrometry). Are all of these
diplomas considered within one big speciality (like Chemistry or
something like that) and you need a diploma in a unrelated field like
computer or something to claim a second speciality?.

Thanks a million one more!!!!!

Your husband is already getting maximum number of points for his education
(providing that he has PhD and at least 17 years of education) - there is no
more points available in education factor.
