PNP - Nova Scotia
Hi,
Im looking to go to NS via the PNP route, however im struggling to find jobs that would be of interest.
I have heard that financial services jobs are required.
I dont know really where to start, do I just look through all the job sites and hope one will be advertised + how do you know if companies will be willing to go down the PNP route.
Any suggestions ?

so i'm afraid i'm not much help on that bit! however i can recommend some good job-hunting resources which we've found really helpful (i'm in IT and my better half is in bilingual admin. roles) - i think there's quite a few finance jobs there too:-
www.careerbeacon.com
www.jobsincanada.com

or just google 'immigrate canada job hunting' or something like that.
good luck!

We found the staff at the PNP office in Halifax very helpful - might be worth contacting them?

If you both have any questions about the process please fire away.

hi, we're also looking at eastern canada (ns or nb) and are equally doubtful about our chances of obtaining a job offer / sponsorship from an employer in these regions (not from experience - purely because everyone seems to harp on about how incredibly hard it is to get one!).
so i'm afraid i'm not much help on that bit! however i can recommend some good job-hunting resources which we've found really helpful (i'm in IT and my better half is in bilingual admin. roles) - i think there's quite a few finance jobs there too:-

Re: PNP - Nova Scotia
My husband has found a company in NB who were really wanted to employ him. They have advertised the jobs for months (since May) and struggled to get anyone suitable. Unfortunately the HR dept have refused to attempt to try the work permit route (too difficult). Its really frustrating. They have told my husband to get in touch when we get our perm visa.
what line of work is your husband in? how long do you think it will be till you get your pr visa? hope it comes through soon so you can start you life in wonderful ns! :-)

Re: PNP - Nova Scotia
I can only report that it isnt impossible as I managed to get a job offer from NS while still in the UK. In fact a few hundred people come to NS through the PNP program each year so there must be plenty of people managing to get jobs.
One problem is that many employers are suspicious/sceptical of the PNP process. In the same way that would-be immigrants are sceptical of their chances of getting a job, employers here are sceptical of being able to secure a visa for a prospective employee in a sensible time frame. The paperwork looks daunting and the process sounds long-winded.
HOWEVER - the reality isnt that bad on either front. If you come accross an employer that seems reluctant to go through the PNP process with you then be aware that the Greater Halifax Parnetship currently provide a FREE service to employers to educate them about the PNP process and help guide them through it. PM me if anyone wants details. Having the chance to talk with someone local to then who can explain the process and the reality of whats involved might really help overcome this scepticism.
