I am immigration for about two years.

My kid is 8 years old. Two weeks ago, he told his teacher that I hit
him.
So the Children's Aid Society visited my home imm. Today CAS lady said
I should take part in two classes. Otherwise, she will sue me on the
court.

These two classes will take me 1500$. I don't want to take part in.

I thinbk it is unfiar. Becasue I teach my son, sometime the sound is
loud or action is rough, but,...
And because it has different culture, I don't hit my son, but he
think. And another thing, my son like to exaggerate.

How can I do? Anybody has this knowledge?
If I don't take part in thr court and goto court, what will be?

dude Id say take the classes and charge it on your sons credit card..! Simple.. next time he wont complain even if you trash him..!

You gotta understand when u r in another country you have to flush many aspects of your old culture down the toilet.. thats the price you pay for migrating & switching cultures. If you want to beat your son up take him to China or India. Parents are allowed to whack the kids there.
I used to get trashed by every one there, thats why I swam to the US one night. Boy what a place!! you can be a total ass hole here and still every one likes you.!!

Get legal assistance. They won't *sue* you in court. They WILL take
your kids away and place them in foster care if they have reason to
believe they are at risk of harm.

CAS frequently oversteps their mandate and rules. Be very careful in
dealing with them. Do NOT talk with them except through your lawyer.
Do not admit them to your home except on the advice of your lawyer.

This isn't about $1500 for courses, which is small change. This is
about the custody of your children.

Is there any funding they can help you with to pay for the
course?

Expecting a person to have the money to pay for such an expensive
course is rather classist and, i feel, a form of financial discrimination.

However, this can help you to become a better parent by building parenting
skills.

Teaching comes from explaining and being a 'role model' -- not from
hitting people weaker than yourself. Teach your child to THINK through
problems, not to hit out of frustration. Learning to hit -- and hitting
others at school or the workplace will cause him criminal problems.

Some people try to explain female genital mutilation this way.

The courts don't seem to accept that child abuse is a "cultural matter",
any more than they accept that wife-beating is.

I'm not an expert but Canada is pretty strict on people who hit their
kids.
Whether you think it's OK or not is not important, the fact is if you
do it and the police find out they could take your kid or you could go
to jail.
Find some alternative method of disciplining your kid which is within
the law.

I think she was saying that she did not hit him.....
Tough spot..but not really an immigration matter.
Sounds like you have been tried and convicted by them
with no trial..and your punishment is the financial hardship of having to
pay that money.
Hope you have a lawyer..but they just want your money too.
Sorry it is a tough spot to be in.
Noone here can give you the info you need.
Maybe a lawyer can though.

Take the course. Otherwise you are walking
headlong into a world of hurt and expense.

Tell CAS you want to take the course but you
really can't afford it. I am not from Ontario, but
I would bet there is some kind of subsidy for low
income families.

China and India are not like what you discribed there.
I showed a lot sympathy to you of those ruthless comments to your "12
children " thread on 18 Dec, but I couldn't say anything now.
My suggestion is : if you want to be respected, respect others first.
or at least, think twice before you post.

able to discipline one without viiolence. You should be able to outsmart

OK, point taken, ..but in what way did i disrespect anyone here? I dint mean to disrespect Indians or Chinese.
Dont we culturally accept beating children in India and China as a means to strict them when they do wrong............. .. and those ruthless comments on the other thread was not my doing it was a very nasty and vulgur comment made by that B%*#^ who started refering to her private parts on a perfectly logical question.
......all my question was, what happens to a family who get their PR but the kid needs to school in a different country for want of a better education. Does he loose his PR since he will not stay in Canda for years? Can any one answer this without refering to anybody elses sexual organs.

Doesn't anyone else think that it's highly irregular for a social services referral/client to be charged money for a parenting skills course? They are free when mandatory as far as I know under various sections of provincial acts which deal with family/community/child care etc.

That aside, if a child tells his teacher that he is being hit, and it is the cultural norm for that child (regardless of what you guys think) I would suggest that you have a problem with your temper Nono-no. Kids usually lie or exaggerate to get attention, but in my experience there is often something to it when a child protests s/he is being hit. Get some help and some English/French lessons so that you might more fully understand the way things are done here and the implications of having the CAS involved in your family's life. What you used to do back home with regards to discipline is likely not acceptable here - fix this problem or you could lose your kids. You have *no* choice.

You choice of words seems to be as poor as your hot head "action is rough" .. and gauging from your post you must have done a lot more that what you are posting..

What you need is a course in interpersonal communication , i took one and was enlightened by how peoples self concept is built on the behaviour of the people that matter to him..

Instead of accepting your faults and trying to correct it you want to cheat the system you deserve a spanking your self..

I hate to see Canada going in this direction. The US has proven that
the elimination of corporal punishment leads to wild kids. Nowadays in
the USA it's once again ok to spank a bad child as long as you do not
cross the line into abuse. Mere spanking is not abuse. Anyone who
thinks it is will later be asking why their kids turned out like shit.
