Physically handicapped Brother
I have a physically handicapped brother who has been working with GE in India for the past 2 years. I want to sponsor him for permanent residency in Canada. Will they reject his application on medical grounds ? He has difficulty in walking however he is very independant and goes to work himself. He is a very integral part of my life and I cannot leave him in India. Please help..

Re: Physically handicapped Brother
Brothers cannot be sponsored, except under very limited circumstances. His
disability may also make him inadmissible to Canada if it may put
substantial burden on Canadian health or social programs now or in the
foreseeable future, sorry.
Siblings are not members of family class and you can normally sponsor only
member of family class. You may sponsor any one relative (who is not
inadmissible) who is not family class member if you don't have any family
member (a spouse, a common-law partner, a conjugal partner, a child, a
mother or father, a relative who
is a child of that mother or father, a relative who is a child of a child of
that mother or father, a mother or father of that mother or father or a
relative who is a child of the mother or father of that mother or father)
who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident **and** if you don't have
any family class members abroad who may be otherwise sponsored.

Re: Physically handicapped Brother
Didn't you just now post another message saying that you yourself want to
apply for Canadian PR?
If you yourself are not a PR, there is no question of sponsoring anyone
else.
