Permanent Resident I.D. card - interview?
I received a letter this morning from CIC telling me to attend an interview in July. I've been living in Canada since 1998 and I've been a resident since mid 2000.
Has anyone else been instructed to attend an interview? If so, how long have you been a resident?
I'm confused as to why they're asking me for an interview; I don't remember seeing anything about it in the application or instructions. Is this normal or is there something about me they don't like?
Thanks

It is the interview to pick up the Card as it will not be mailed - it must
be picked-up in person.

So it's only to pick up the card right? I was told that in some cases, CIC
will check your length of residence in Canada while you pick up the PR Card,
is there any one has been experienced?

Re: Permanent Resident I.D. card - interview?
Miller is wrong again...you don't get interviewed when you pick up your PR
card...that's is why it's called pick up, not called interview.

My letter says nothing about "pick up".
It says:
"This letter is to advise you that our office is now in a position to finalise your application for your Permanent Resident card".

I never heard anything from them other than a letter telling the time and place to pick up the card. For that you had to go in person ad show your passport, landing papers, and one other photo ID (driver's license, health card, etc.). They did ask you a few questions and explained to you how the card worked, stamped the landing papers as not valid for travel, and had you sign that you received it.

Exactly there's a difference between pickup and processing PR card application.

Not that this is any surprise, but at least we now know why.
