Permanent Resident Card
I am a British Citizen, Landed Immigrant status living in Canada but I have
not applied for Canadian Citizenship yet, nor the PR Card. My family and I
were thinking of driving to the US for Christmas. Do you think it would it
be problem getting back into Canada? I note on the
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/press/03/0353-pre.html web site that it states
"will be mandatory for permanent residents wishing to re-enter Canada aboard
any commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train or bus).";
but it does not say anything about people travelling by car.
I do intend to apply for Citizenship but don't really want to spend another
$200 on the PR cards for the family.
Thanks for any advice

No problem, a car is not a commercial carrier. You may have to answer
questions at Immigration, but you should not have a problem.

Re: Permanent Resident Card
Hi,
Similar question!! I am in USA on H1B visa and I have to land in Canada in April 2004. I cannot stay for a month in Canada to get my PR card, so I will come back to USA in a week or so. Later (say after 2/3 months) can I drive my own car (US number plate) from USA to enter into Canada (without a PR card)?
