Page 1 of the Citizenship application kit states what documents need to be submitted.
Only the following documents are listed: Canadian Immigration paper (IMM 1000) and 2
pieces opf personal identification (for example, a driver's license and a health
insurance card as mentioned on the application). It does not specifically asks
anywhere that copies of all pages of the passport needs to be submitted. On this
newsgroup I have noticed several people saying that compelete copies of all the
passport pages needs to be submitted with the citizenship application. Can anyone
provide some insight into this?

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Copies of your passport are not needed to be submited with your citizenship application. If you provide all documents they asked for that will be enough. Send copies of passport only if they ever ask for those. However, I doubt they will ever ask for it.

At one time, a few years ago, CIC did require this information. For example, when my
wife and I applied for citizenship in early 1996, we definitely did have to submit
copies of our passports.

But if they aren't asking for this info now, I guess that means you don't need to
submit it any more -- unless, of course, you get a followup request later on
specifically asking for it.

A point to remember in filling out the citizenship application form, you have to
identify all your absences from Canada and while you are not required to provide
your passport in the initial instance, if you are subsequently requested to complete
the 'detailed residence questionnaire' they will also ask for a copy of all
passports issued to you since you were landed. The information provided in the
initial application must be consistent with the visas and stamps in your passport.
