Parents PR Questions
Hi:
Reg.: Parents - (want to apply for their PR)
Parents came in April on Visit Visa in Canada – 6 months.
Got another 6 months extension – The extension letter asked to do the
medical for both and did that.
1.Can I file for their PR (permanent residence) for them from here in
Canada, while they are here. They will complete 1 year of stay in
Canada in another 2 months.
2.The extension letter says " if you need more extension, apply 4
weeks before expiry of this visa" – Does that mean we could get
another extension of 6 months ?
3. Does their PR application weigh more favorably if we file after I
become Canadian Citizen ? (which could happen soon)
4. When we file for their PR, can we mention that they have already
done their medicals in Caanda and would that help in expediating (not
going thru the medical stage)?
THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING...

Re: Parents PR Questions
1. Their PR applications will have to go to proper visa post abroad, there
is no in Canada process for sponsoring parents. Except Humanitarian &
Compassionate grounds, but such are rarely granted.
2. No, it only means that they can apply, that is all.
3. No, it is irrelevant
4. They will have to undergo medicals for PR process separately when asked
to do so.

Re: Parents PR Questions
Thank you Mr. Miller for your help.
Pls. further clarification..on 1 point of visa extension
What are the chances of getting the extension? Are the chances as good
as when we applied for first extension?
I was under the impression that ONLY 1 time extension is allowed and
we already got it for 6 months and they would complete 1 year of stay
soon.
(The original visa validity is for 2 years)

Re: Parents PR Questions
Chances for subsequent extensions are impossible to predict. But they are
definitely much lower now in your parent's case than they were the first
time.
The validity of the passport visa sticker is irrelevant.
