Options for PR?
Hi everyone. I was wondering if any of you could help me out with some info.
I have been living with my Canadian boyfriend for almost 2 and a half years. I am on my second year of my IEC visa and have another year left on it. What are my options for PR?
We have plans to get married in the near future but don't want to do it just for the sake of a visa. However if it cuts out processing times and lawyers it seems like our best option.
Has anyone else been in the same boat? Any help woud be much appreciated.

Re: Options for PR?
He can apply to sponsor you for PR today if he wants, no need to get married first!
As you've been living together for a year or more, you'd qualify as common-law spouses.
Start getting all of the paperwork together and if you apply outland you can expect it to take 6-8 months, so would have PR before your IEC expires if you get cracking.
Have a look at the Wiki article on spousal sponsorship and the CIC website for more info.
HTH, good luck.
