Default Online TWP Processing Times

So, we've had our LMIA approved! (yay!) And are now looking at applying for the Temporary Work Permit.

As we're not planning to go until end of July we were looking at applying from the UK rather than at Port of Entry.

I understand that paper processing times are about 2 months for London. But I can't find any info about how long it will take if we apply online via cic.gc.ca. Anyone able to advise?

We've seen the table at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp but it doesn't seem clear which is for an online TWP from the UK.

Or are we just best to do it at POE??

Thanks!

No need to fill out forms at the POE and you can pay by VISA, MCard or AMEX.
Usually wait times in Immigration aren't that bad on arrival or fill out the forms online and ask another zillion questions

+1. I can't see why you'd apply online when you can just get it at the airport when you arrive in Canada (assuming you're a UK citizen of course).

Thanks. I suppose it was just to mitigate the risk of being rejected at the airport for some reason, and being sent on a plane back to the UK!

But even if you apply by a visa office, you don't actually get the visa until you get to the airport, so there's still a chance of being refused entry (albeit a small one!).

I guess it depends on if your employer is prepared to wait for you or not, online processing times seem to have increased recently, but if you wanted to do that, hopefully it wouldn't take too long.

Good luck.
