Obtaining Police Certificate/Clearances

I lived in Beijing, P.R. of China from Sept, 1991 to July, 1992. Presently I am
residing in Boston,MA,USA. As a part of application for permanent residence for
Canada, Govt. of Canada requires that I obtain an original police certificate of "no
criminal record/conviction" from police authorities in the countries where I have
lived. It was suggested that I need to contact the Embassy/Consulate of P.R. of China
in order to obtain Police Certificate/Clearances.
Please advise me about the procedures and/or the persons/divisions whom I need to
contact on the above matter. Your kind help on this matter is sincerely appreciated.
