Obtaining Police Certificate
Fellow Experts,
What is the process of obtaining a police certificate in the US....?
I read somewhere in the application guide:
"If you have lived in the United States, you must provide a state
certificate and a national FBI certificate."
Now then, do I go to a local police or do I go to the FBI first?
Is there any form I need to bring in? What should I do?

as far as i am aware you only need state clearances if youa re applying in
the in Canada class. In the guides for visa psots for skilled workers etc it
just says to get the FBI clearances for the USA.

I have been living in the states for four years.
Is there any form from the FBI I should fill up?
Is there any form from CIC I need to present to the FBI?
Should I go to the local FBI office?

It does explain how to do this in the guide and information provided at
www.cic.gc.ca i really would make sure you have read eveything properly if
you are aplpying by yourself as missing things out and errors etc could
cause your application to be returned to you.
Basicaly you need to first get fingerprints either on an official FBI card
marked for immigration purposes or a local law enfocment card and then you
need to send it to the FBI address in the guide along with the letter
explaining what you need. There is also a letter to present to the local law
establishment you get fingerprinted at in case they need further explination
as to why you want fingerprints. Both letters should be in the Appendix.
