Re: new point system delayed till 2003?
Nothing has been delayed, only the transition period for applications submitted prior
to December 17, 2001 has been so far extended till the end of this year. It changes
nothing for cases submitted after December 17, 2001.

Re: new point system delayed till 2003?
The transition period rules apply to applications submitted before December 17, 2001
only. It has been announced that those applications will continue to be assessed
under old law until end of this year (to be exact until January 3rd,
2003). Cases submitted prior to December 17, 2001 but not decided by January 3rd,
2003 will be assessed under new selection grid but will have to meet the pass
mark of only 70 points.

For applications received before the December 15th publication of the proposed
Regulations, January 1 2003 has been set as the cutoff for evaluation under the
present (old) criteria. If a selection decision is not received by that time, those
cases will be assessed under the new criteria with an expected pass mark of 70.
