New Immigration law....confusing??....any expert comments?
I have a 3 year Bachelor's degree with honors and 15 years of full-time study. How many points do I get? The new grid is confusing about the qualification.
My wife has a Master's degree and 17 yrs. of full-time education. But no work exp. Exactly how many points does she get? Confusing again.
If I give myself 20 for Education and 5 to my wife's education then I have:
Education - 20
Language - 16
Experience - 21
Age - 10
Wife's Edu - 5
-------
72
Do I stand a chance...? Is there anything called visa officer's discretion?
Ams

seems about right, i mean ive got a BSc(hons) with 18 years of education and i'd
still only get 20 points if i was applying indipendantly. i am not sure at what point
the visa officer would use discretionary powers, you are only 3 points short. are you
sure you cant even speak a little bit of french to try and get an extra point or two
in the language department. i would have thought a GCSE/O level in french would be
proof of at least basic ability to i dunno read signs and order meals and ask
directions etc.
